The ZZ Lab works on highly interdisciplinary projects, covering topics in ChemE, MatSci, MechE, EnergySci, CompSci, Chem, Phys, and Math. We seek motivated individuals who are curious, bold, honest, and funny.

Due to the large volume of inquiries, all candidates are encouraged to include the following: (i) a short summary of academic background; (ii) 3 topics you like; (iii) 3 topics you dislike; (iv) CV w/ full pubication list and 3 references. We may not respond to inquiries that lack any of the above, are excessively long, or show obvious signs of LLM use.

Postdoc Researchers Postdoc Associate position will be listed here when available. Postdoc Fellowship (Science, Energy, Sustainability Accelerator, and Schmidt Science) applicants may email the PI to discuss potential projects and co-host(s), until the nomination slots run out (not yet!).

Graduate Students. Prospective students should apply directly through the ChemE program, as we admit students through committee decisions + lab rotations, rather than direct placement (see PhD admission guidelines). If you are already admitted into any graduate program at Stanford and are interested in rotation, please email the PI. We are also happy to host externally funded visiting graduate students.

Undergrad students. For summer research internships: Stanford Engineering students may apply for the REU program; Non-Stanford students in the US can apply for the SURF program; International students in participating institutes may apply for the UGVR program. Apart from these, we also have plenty of toy systems for those who want to experience computational research. We are also happy to host externally funded visiting undergrad students.
